Global wine consumption shifted significantly in 2025, with rosé wines continuing their decade-long surge in popularity while traditional red wine sales declined in several key markets.
Industry data shows rosé now accounts for nearly 12% of still wine sales in the United States, up from just 6% in 2018. The trend is even more pronounced among younger consumers, where pink wines represent nearly one in five purchases.
Meanwhile, lighter-bodied reds like Pinot Noir and Gamay are gaining ground against fuller wines such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec. Experts attribute this shift to changing food preferences and increased interest in wines that pair well with diverse cuisines.
Sparkling wine remains strong, with Prosecco maintaining its position as the top-selling sparkling category in the U.S. market.
